JAVASCRIPT
Why does my browser tell me I need Javascript? Where is it and how do I turn it on?
Javascript is s scripting language for the Internet which allows Web developers to bring far more functionality and interactivity to Web pages. It should be on by default but, if you've inadvertently turned it off you can change the settings by following the instructions below.
Microsoft Internet Explorer users.
-Open Internet Explorer and, from the menu bar at the top of your screen, go to TOOLS/INTERNET OPTIONS.
-Click on the ADVANCED tab and scroll down the list until you see JavaVM.
-You only need to select the second option - Java JIT Compiler Enabled.
-If this is already checked then close the window and leave everything as it is.
If you are still getting Javascript errors then you are probably affected by the Curtango Bug and Frame Spoof hole. Don't worry, it's nothing serious, just a bug in the 'untrusted scripted paste' reader. Microsoft have released a MSHTML Security patch which resolves all these problems. See the next step.
-Quit your Web browser.
-Locate the correct patch for your version of Internet Explorer on the CD [BROWSERS\IE\PATCHES\] and run it.
When you restart the browser your Javascript problems should be over. If not, check Microsoft's Web site for the latest patches for Internet Explorer - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/Ie/security/mshtml.asp
Netscape users.
Both Java and Javascript can be enabled in your Browser Preferences. There are no known Javascript issues with Netscape Communicator or Navigator 4.08 and higher.

INSTALLING SOFTWARE
Is there a correct procedure for installing software?
Yes there is. Installing software correctly is very imprtant. If it's not done right you may find that at best the installation was unsuccessful and, at worse, (and more than likely) your computer may refuse to restart. This can lead to a complete reinstallation of
Users that have Microsoft Internet Explorer installed have the option to "Run this program from its current location" when clicking a download link. This option, however, is not recommended because many programs install drivers which may conflict with those already active on your system. Please follow the steps below for correct installation of any software on your system.
-In the browser interface, note the File Name of the program you wish to install.
-If you are concerned about viruses scan the CD or the application to be installed. If the file(s) are not infected disable your anti-virus software before proceeding. Some anti-virus software cannot be disabled in the usual manner and may require that you restart your computer. Please consult the documentation that came with the software for more detailed instructions.
-Quit all open applications, including your browser and any anti-virus software, terminate any Internet or server connections by logging off.
-Locate the file to be installed from the CD. (For information on how to browse the CD's contents please refer to "Accessing the CD Contents" above.
